The Virginia Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s 2019-2021 Concrete Leadership Program participants gathered for Session One of the program on Thursday, August 8th and Friday, August 9th. The session took place in Charlottesville, VA and focused on the Myers-Briggs Assessment. Like previous years, the team is taking the test to better understand how they view the world around them and how they make decisions.

This is the first meeting since the program was revised and expanded to include two additional sessions over the course of 21 months, with final presentations delivering at the VRMCA Spring Convention in May 2021.

While the name and the structure has changed, the goal of the program has not: to provide participants with an opportunity to build leadership skills, develop a diverse business network, meet legislative leaders, become an advocate for their profession, and prepare for challenges facing the future of the ready mixed concrete industry.

This year’s class includes:

  • Charles Laverty, Director of Safety with Boxley Materials, Blue Ridge VA
  • David Novitzki, Plant Supervisor with Titan Ready Mix, Sterling VA
  • Nathan Powers, Dispatch Supervisor with Vulcan Materials Company, Lorton VA
  • Matt Slocum, Quality Control Manager with Capital Concrete, Inc., Norfolk VA
  • Kevin Smith, Production Manager with Chandler Concrete, Roanoke VA

Up next will be a meeting in Richmond, VA in February 202 when the participants will learn more about lobbying efforts and visit the General Assembly!
